TWC Draincare Monthly Round-Up: October 2025

💧 October Highlights: The Spooky One!

October was a busy one for Team TWC! Between the autumn leaves, surprise downpours, and the occasional rogue rounders bat blocking a drain (yes, really), our engineers have been out and about keeping the everyone’s pipes happy.

Safety Came First! ⛑️

This month we not only passed our CHAS re-accreditation with flying colours, but we also become SafeContractor approved too!

The safety of our staff, customers, suppliers and partners is a key priority for us and so we decided to take that extra step to make sure we’re doing things right.

CHAS is the gold-standard accreditation for drainage businesses like ourselves, and we’ve held this accreditation for years. So, whilst SafeContractor isn’t a requirement, for us it is a key part of showing our commitment to doing what we do, and doing it right.

Well done to the whole team who contributed to this fantastic achievement.!

Charlie took a swing!

Each and every day our engineers venture into the unknown – solving the mysteries of blocked drains.

This month, Charlie tackled a particularly stubborn job in our very own hometown of Thirsk.

We got a call for a blocked drain which was affecting services – the customer couldn’t use their toilets, sinks or washing machines.

Whilst most of our jobs are easy to solve, this one was more problematic. The issue was caused by a rounders bat, which had become lodged in the drain and had to be dug out. We’ll admit – this was one we hadn’t seen before!

But Charlie is nothing if not persistent, and with a bit of sweat, a lot of digging and sheer determination he got the better of that bat and managed to get things up and running again! Well done Charlie!

Stephen went back to school! 🚐

Being a drainage engineer is not all fun and games!  The engineers carry a lot of very dangerous, specialist equipment with them which can cause injuries if not used correctly.

All the engineers undertake regular training to keep their skills up-to-date and ensure they understand best practice.

Stephen spent a day with FlowPlant down in Rotherham doing some refresher training on high pressure jetting to keep him on his toes. We’re pleased to say he passed with flying colours! Well done Stephen.

🔮 November on the Horizon: What’s Coming Up

As we slide into November (and hopefully not on frozen manhole covers), here’s what’s ahead for TWC Draincare:

Winter Readiness Checks ❄️

We’ll be refreshing and servicing our vans in readiness for the festive freeze.  The safety of our team is a priority so making sure their vans are serviced, their PPE is in order and the anti-freeze is stocked up is a top-priority.

Grease Trap Season 🍔

With Christmas party prep underway, we’re getting ready for a spike in commercial kitchen callouts. If you run a pub, café, or restaurant — now’s the time to get your grease traps and interceptors serviced before the festive rush. (Because nothing ruins a Christmas dinner like a flooded kitchen floor.)

🚿 Need a Hand (or a Plunger)?

Whether it’s a blocked drain, a pump problem, or a treatment plant that’s seen better days, the TWC team’s always ready to jump in (figuratively, not literally). Give us a call, and we’ll keep your water flowing freely — no drama, no nonsense, just solid Yorkshire service with a smile.
