World Day for Safety and Health at Work, April 28

Health and Safety Clothing

On Monday 28th April, here at TWC Draincare we will be celebrating World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

This was first celebrated in 2003, and is a campaign, led by the International Labour Organisation, to promote a safe and healthy work environment.

Did you know? Globally, more than 317 million accidents occur on the job annually; many of these result in extended absences from work.

The Focus of World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2025

The ILO’s focus for this year is on emerging risks around the changing workplace environment including in areas like:

·        New technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and nanotechnology

·        Changing working conditions, including working conditions and higher workloads

·        Emerging forms of employment, including self-employment and temporary contracts.

At TWC Draincare, we fully support the promotion of this day. As a family run business, we focus on creating a supportive and safe working environment for our team and customers’ in their homes and places of work. As a business, our mission is to ensure that your drainage systems are functioning smoothly, efficiently, and safely, no matter the challenge. We can only achieve this by ensuring a safe working environment for our team.

How we keep our team and customers safe on World Safety and Health at Work Day and everyday!

Health and Safety is at the heart of everything we do and involves:

Ensuring our engineers have the right tools and equipment to do their jobs, including protective clothing like boots, gloves, helmets etc.

Maintaining this equipment properly, including PAT testing for electrical items and safety testing for equipment like harnesses, gas detectors etc.

  • Engineers completing formal health and safety training with the Construction Industry Training Board. They also hold certifications in other areas including Working at Heights and Working in Confined Spaces.
  • Having our engineers vaccinated against diseases like Hepatitis and Tetanus.
  • Holding regular ToolBox talks with our team to address concerns, issues and changes in legislation.
  • Completing Risk Assessments and Method Statements for every job we do.
  • Maintaining our CHAS certification. For us, this does not just mean doing what is necessary according to the standards but doing what is right.

In doing this, we’re ensuring our engineers are as safe as they can possibly be when they’re out doing their jobs.  This enables them to focus on what matters to you; keeping those drains flowing smoothly.
